A New Year's Eve drone show was canceled this year following a show in Orlando, Florida where a boy was injured after several drones collided and fell from the sky with one of them hitting the boy.

In a statement to WFAA, Dusti Groskreutz, the president of Reunion Tower, said the drone company informed Reunion Tower that it will not be able to fly the New Year’s Eve show "out of an abundance of caution following a recent incident as they carefully review their processes for future shows."

Reunion Tower’s iconic New Year’s Eve celebration will go on but without a drone show this year. Coppell-based Sky Elements Drones, the company originally slated to fly during the event, has pulled out after a recent mishap in Florida.

The New York Road Runners cancelled its fleet of 500 drones less than a week before its annual midnight run event in a decision organizers say was out of their control.

The Central Park drone show on New Year's Eve has been canceled after a drone fell and severely injured a boy at a similar event in Florida.

The New York Road Runners said that they have cancelled their planned drone show over Central Park after a drone program gone awry injured a child in Florida. Channel 7 News reported that the same vendor that handled the Florida show was in line to produce the aerial show over Central Park on New Year’s Eve.

The FAA and NTSB are investigating colliding drones at a holiday Sky Elements Drones Show this past Saturday, Dec. 21.
