Tropical Storm Rafael continues to weaken in Gulf
Tropical Storm Rafael falls apart in the Gulf, but season’s not over yet
Tropical Storm Rafael is no more. Rafael, which became a Category 3 hurricane twice and hit Cuba on Nov. 6, fell apart in the Gulf of Mexico over the weekend and was ruled a post-tropical system on Sunday by the National Hurricane Center.
Post-Tropical Rafael Weakens over the Gulf of Mexico
The center of the storm has become more exposed due to strong winds, and convective storms are displaced to the northeast of Rafael as shown on the enhanced satellite imagery. National Hurricane Center meteorologists expect Rafael to make a clockwise loop in the Gulf of Mexico before gradually shifting southward.
