Holiday travelers returning home this weekend could contend with more delays at airports as severe thunderstorms intensify in the South and a parade of atmospheric river-fueled storms slams the West.

Parts of Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas were under severe weather watches early Friday as the National Weather Service predicted a storm system in the Gulf of Mexico could bring high winds, hail and possible tornadoes to the region.

Severe weather is expected to keep impacting large parts of the U.S. Southeast on Sunday, after tornadoes and thunderstorms barreled across the U.S. on Saturday, killing at least two people.

A severe weather threat is moving to the Southeast and East Coast on Sunday after deadly tornado-spawning storms pummeled Texas and Mississippi, tearing through homes and leaving at least two people dead.

At least two were killed and six more injured as several tornadoes touched down in Texas and Mississippi on Saturday.
