For the first time, liquor stores in Colorado could stay open on Christmas. It's part of a new law that went into effect this year. In May, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed a bill into law allowing liquor stores to stay open on the holiday. Until now, it was the only day of the year they were required to keep closed.

Typically, most businesses are closed on Christmas Day. Beginning this year, Colorado liquor stores no longer have to be.

From retail to grocery chains, many companies across the U.S. close early on Christmas Eve and shut their doors entirely on Christmas Day — while others opt to cut back hours. But there’s also a handful of businesses that stay open on the holiday.
