Travis King, the U.S. soldier who ran across the Demilitarized Zone and into North Korea last year, was sentenced Friday to a prison term that amounts to the time he has already served.

King, who fled to North Korea last year, was given a year in prison, but released for time served by a military judge.

Pvt. Travis King on Friday pleaded guilty to desertion and told a military judge that he ran into North Korea last year because he was “dissatisfied with work” and wanted to get away from the Army.
