Kilauea is erupting again and eruptive activity may continue to pause and resume in the coming days or weeks, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory in an update on Friday.

Lava from Kilauea volcano resumed flowing into Halemaumau crater today after a dramatic early Monday morning eruption followed by a pause in the flow later that afternoon, according to Hawaiian Volcano Observatory officials.

Kilauea began erupting around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning local time at the base of the Halemaumau Crater within the summit caldera after elevated seismic activity was detected overnight.
