THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Challenging the Sangh Parivar narrative linking Sanatana Dharma and Sree Narayana Guru, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said Guru was neither a spokesperson nor a practitioner of Sanatana Dharma.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticised efforts to depict Sree Narayana Guru as an advocate of Sanatana Dharma. Vijayan stated that Guru transcended Sanatana Dharma, advocating a new-age dharma for modern times.

Sanatana Dharma is nothing but ’varnasrama dharma’ (caste-based social order), which Guru had challenged and overcome, he said, adding that the new age ”humanistic dharma” advocated by him stands with time.
